Filing a DMCA Complaint
Think someone’s using your copyrighted material without permission? Your complaint needs to include a few things or we can’t act on it:
- Sign it (physically or electronically) and confirm you’re actually allowed to speak for the copyright owner
- Tell us what copyrighted work got ripped off
- Point us to where the problem content is on our site – be specific so we can find it
- Give us your contact info: address, phone, email if you have it
- Say that you honestly believe this use isn’t allowed by the copyright owner, their representative, or the law
- Swear under penalty of perjury that everything you’re telling us is true and you’re authorized to file this complaint
What We Do Next
Once we get a proper takedown notice, here’s what happens:
We pull the content down or block access to it. No exceptions. We tell whoever uploaded it that their stuff got removed. If someone keeps uploading copyrighted material after getting warned, we’ll remove their content permanently and might close their account entirely.
Think We Made a Mistake?
Sometimes takedowns happen by accident, or you might have legal rights to use the content. If that’s the case, you can file a counter-notice.
Your counter-notice should include:
- Your signature (physical or electronic)
- Info about what got removed and where it was before we took it down
- A statement saying you believe the removal was a mistake or the content was misidentified
- Your contact details – name, address, phone, email. Plus you need to agree that if this goes to court, you’ll deal with it in Federal District Court (or wherever we can be sued if you’re outside the US). You also have to accept that the original complainant can serve you legal papers.
We might put the content back up in 10-14 business days after getting your counter-notice, unless the copyright owner decides to take you to court.

People who keep uploading copyrighted stuff after multiple warnings? We don’t mess around. Their accounts get terminated and all their content disappears permanently.
